It’s been a while since I’ve posted, but I’m back! If you’re wondering what I’ve been up to, it’s been a whirl. Almost one year to the day ago I left my job, started my own business, and began my career as a full-time writer (and marketer).
My main goal was to finish the “pre-dystopian” novel I’ve been working on tentatively titled “Chawlgirl Rising” (you may have seen a post or two from me about “The God Hunter.” Same book, better title). Well, that bird is about to spread its wings so hopefully you’ll read more about it soon. In the meantime, I’m able to take a breath and concentrate on my first love: flash fiction! Let’s get to some great news and markets:
- Just came across Scottish/UK (they’re still together) website The List, which has a great flash fiction section.
- Sandra Tyler and Kelly Garriott Waite have introduced me to a great new site, Woven Tale Press, that is a wonderful mishmash of everything that we creative types like (or as they like to say, an eclectic culling of the creative web, which earns points for alliteration). Including flying eyeball paintings in the latest issue, which I thought were great!
- I just came across a very interesting site, Mash Stories. Kate Kearns and her team there have a great model where they run a kind of perpetual competition, with the winning flash fiction stories given the professional foice over treatment. What a cool opportunity!
